Bio

I used to think that investing was gambling, so I avoided it. I also opened my first Roth IRA into a CD at a credit union--I didn't know to invest the money (nor how)! I eventually learned better, and now I get to help others learn from my mistakes (no judgement here). I am an educator at heart, with many years of experience supporting first-gen and limited-income college students. My passion for helping my students understand money eventually led me to teach a college course, open a financial education business, and finally leave education to become a financial advisor. I LOVE supporting others towards their money goals, especially helping them understand what they need to know about money to use it to intentionally create a life that they are genuinely excited to live. Money is not an end goal in itself, but it can buy freedom! So let’s start with your values and goals, then figure out the money strategies (and support) that you can use to make that happen (and automate it)!

Personal Stuff

Corvallis, Oregon

I'm a mom of 2 living in Oregon. I love to travel, hike, bake, camp, and be in water. My kids are 6 and 8, and I'm finally starting to take them traveling (I'm all about intentional spending, not just saving/investing!). I recently took my kids on an epic 3 week Costa Rica trip. Corcovado, sloths, monkeys, pools, cloud forests, hanging bridges, river floats, beaches, Spanish, ziplining... it was amazing. Next will be Belize! [I offer a “Plan Lite” for $1,800, message me if interested]

Fantastic session full of actionable advice

Michelle was absolutely fantastic. I brought her a complex issue involving how to finance the construction of a house on a lot I do not actually own, and she was very quickly able to sort through the various assets I could use for financing, talked me through the advantages and disadvantages of each one (including tax implications), and advised me on the best order to use each asset for the financing. It was incredibly helpful, and gave me a lot of peace of mind. I will definitely use her again.

Amazing Experience!

Michelle was fantastic to work with! She helped us think through our long term financial vision by asking many critical questions and providing us with lots of actionable recommendations. She was a pleasure to work with and very knowledgeable. There are few people that have had such a big impact on our financial outlook and future! We now use the phrase "Michelle says..." in our house all the time when talking about our finances now.

Our 2nd time meeting withMichelle, she is great

Our second time meeting with Michelle, she is super smart (she even caught a mistake our tax guy made!) & answered all our questions. I recommend her to all my coworkers as she is familiar with my state's weird retirement (Oregon PERS). She takes very detailed notes so you can really focus on the meeting. She gives great advice for both short term stuff and long term planning. She is kind of one of those people that works her self out of a job because she made a great, straight forward plan for us that we likely won't need to see her for a couple years now.

Follow-up Session

Another great meeting with Michelle. This was a follow-up to my initial session last year. I was just starting retirement then, so holding this meeting today was an opportunity to review my financial plan with finalized numbers and to ask additional questions related to timing of events, taxes, etc. As before, Michelle listened to my questions and provide sound options and ideas.
