Use this simple calculator to determine how a stock split affects your holdings. Whether it's a 2-for-1, 3-for-2, or any custom ratio, you can quickly see your updated share count and adjusted share price.
How Stock Splits Work
A forward stock split increases the number of shares you own while proportionally decreasing the price per share. The total value of your investment remains the same immediately after the split.
For example:
In a 2-for-1 stock split, if you own 100 shares at $50 each, you'll end up with 200 shares at $25 each. Both before and after your total investment value would be $5,000. (e.g. 100 x $50 = $5,000 and 200 x $25 = $5,000)
Why Companies Do Stock Splits
Stock splits can make shares more affordable for retail investors and improve liquidity. They're often a sign that the stock has performed well over time.
Reverse Stock Splits
This calculator works for forward stock splits and reverse stock splits (like 1-for-10). To calculate a rever stock split like 1-for-10 just enter it as 1:10
